An early season English cooker with slightly lumpen fruit, often having a pronounced ribbed effect. This is transformed in the pot, where it easily cooks down to cream-coloured puree with superb flavour. Very easy to grow, not being as vigorous as Bramley, and crops reliably. Pollination group C. Partially self-fertile.
